Cyprus Maritime Academy (CyMA)

The Cyprus Maritime Academy (CyMA) in collaboration with Intercollege and under the auspices of the University of Nicosia, offers Maritime programs designed to provide the necessary academic knowledge, professional skills and competences Officers who wish to pursue a career on merchant marine ships. CyMA is the first Academy of its kind in Cyprus as it provides the opportunity to its cadets to acquire a Bachelor’s Degree (title awarded by Intercollege) along with their Certificate of Competence.

The maritime educational fields offered by CyMA have been verified and are constantly monitored by the Department of Merchant Shipping of the Republic of Cyprus. The maritime and professional training offered by CyMA, are in accordance with the standards of the United Nations International Maritime Organization (IMO) and are in full compliance with the provisions set out by the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watch-keeping for Seafarers (STCW).

The general academic education provided, follow the standards of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Cyprus for Higher Education. This ensures that the academic level acquired by the Cadets enables them to receive a University-level Bachelor Degree. These academic qualifications afford Cadets with the opportunity to seek further academic knowledge by pursuing a Master’s Degree and/or even a PhD while also providing graduates with the needed management skills and knowledge for their future career of the Officers in managerial positions of maritime-related companies.
