Dr. Andreas Chrysanthou
Dr. Chrysanthou graduated from the English School Nicosia in 1974 and completed his studies in the University of Salford UK (1975-1984) attaining a BSC and a PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering Science. He was then involved in a project funded by the Ministry of Defense of the United Kingdom based on the digital control of turbofan jet engines which culminated with the successful implementation of such control methods on a real jet turbofan engine in the year 1992. He was then repatriated to Cyprus and during the years that followed, Dr. Chrysanthou became active in various fields of engineering disciplines within the Cyprus market with particular emphasis in the design and installation of centralized air conditioning and underfloor heating systems. Dr. Chrysanthou has joined the ranks of Intercollege Nicosia in 2007, and has since developed and coordinated several technical programs in the field of Applied Engineering. His work was culminated with the development of the first in its kind Renewable Energy Laboratory, which has served as a fundamental training platform for many vocational programs and training seminars in Cyprus. He is currently the Director of Administration of Intercollege, with active participation in the teaching sector especially in the field of Thermodynamics.

Dr. Andreas Frangos
Captain/Dr. Andreas Frangos has 30 years of experience in the Maritime Industry including in Ship Management sector operating Bulk Carriers, Tankers (MRs, Aframaxes, Suezmaxes and LNGs). He has been involved in the Education sector for over 16 years, having lectured in various Universities (TEPAK, Frederick University Cyprus, and University of Nicosia). Dr. Andreas Frangos holds a Dprof from the University of Middlesex in London in the field of Maritime Education (Tanker Chartering). His research addressed to Maritime education and writing Curriculum on Tanker Chartering. He also holds a BSc from the University of Patra (Faculty of Science) and DPSA/MSC from U.W.I.S.T (University of Wales, Institute of Science and Technology). Dr. Frangos holds a Captain A Class Certificate. He is a Fellow in ICS (Institute of Chartered Ship Brokers) Association in London and he is the substitute representative of CSC (Cyprus Shipping Chamber) in BIMCO (Baltic and International Maritime Council). Dr. Frangos is currently working as a full-time lecturer at Intercollege, teaching related field modules in both, BSc in Nautical Science and Marine Engineering programs.

Dr. Stylianos Hirodontis
Dr. Stylianos Hirodontis has received his undergraduate Bachelor Degree as an Electrical and Electronic Engineer from the University of Manchester – UMIST, in the UK in 2006. He graduated Top of the class and he received a number of awards for his performance. He then received his postgraduate MSc with Distinction in the field of Electrical Power Engineering with Business from the University of Strathclyde, in 2008. He then followed a Doctoral Degree from the University of Manchester – UMIST and graduated in 2010. His research was in the field of Electrical Engineering and the research was based on Load Shedding for Islanded Distribution Networks. He then returned in Cyprus where he worked at the University of Cyprus as a postdoctoral researcher and conducted studies in the field of Total Ownership Cost of Transformers, and Evaluation of the cost methods for the pricing of Electrical Energy in Cyprus. Currently, Dr. Hirodontis is a part-time lecturer at the BSc in Marine Engineering program of Intercollege, where he teaches the modules of Electrical Installations, Auto Control Systems, Sensors and Measurements, Fault Detection Methods, Digital and Safety Devices as well as Maintenance and Repair of Electrical Installations.

Mr. Panayiotis Tafanides
Mr. Panayiotis Tafanides graduated from the Merchant Maritime Academy of Nea Michaniona (Macedonias). He Sailed on Bulkers and Crude Oil tankers and in 1998, he was employed as Assistant Crewing Superintendent in Intership Navigation. In 1999, he become Crewing Superintendent and he was in charge of 32 General cargo coasters. In 2004, Mr. Tafanides took over the responsibilities of 12 LR Oil/Chemical tankers and 6 LPG’s. In 2010, he was promoted to Supervisor and in September 2015, he become Senior Supervisor Personnel, Training & Compliance. Mr. Tafanides is an active member of several communities at Cyprus Shipping Chamber, also he is also member of the Maritime Institute of East Mediterranean and the Association of Merchant Marine Officers. Mr. Tafanides is currently working as a full-time lecturer at Intercollege, teaching field related modules at the BSc in Nautical Science program.

Mr. Robert Dunn 
Mr. Robert Dunn holds a First Class Engineer Certificate (CoC) from Glasgow College of Maritime Studies. He holds various professional qualifications such as, CoC Chief Engineer from MCA(UK) (2017 refresher), Advanced Fire Fighting, Personal Survival, Survival & Rescue Boats (2016 refresher) from South Shields Marine College, Shipboard Security from Azalea Maritime, Bijela (2014 refresher), Shipboard Safety at South Shields Marine College (2008), Risk Management and Incident Investigation at Lloyds (2013 refresher). He has been employed by NMM Stena, Mistui, TK, Denhom and Jardines as a Chief Engineer and by ODA (UK Govt) in Kiribati as a Marine Engineer Cl 1. Since 2016, Mr. Dunn is working as a part-time lecturer at Intercollege, teaching field related modules in both, BSc in Nautical Science and Marine Engineering programs.

Mr. Nicholas Makris
Mr. Nicholas Makris is a Greek National, Master Mariner FG. Mr. Makris graduated with Honors, the Merchant Marine Academy of Hydra, Greece and after serving on board dry cargo vessels as a deck officer, he obtained, according to the regulations and examinations set forward by the Greek Ministry of Mercantile Marine, the Greek Second Officer’s Certificate and the Greek Chief Officer’s Certificate. Finally, after completing a six months’ duration course at the Educational Center for Masters of the Mercantile Marine, he obtained the Greek Master’s Certificate. Mr. Makris served as a Master for about four years on board dry cargo vessels and later he followed the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree course in Maritime Studies at the University of Liverpool where he graduated with Honors. Ever since 1987, Mr. Makris has been employed as Operations Manager within major Shipping Companies in Piraeus, INTERCARGO LND, owning and operating dry cargo vessels, such as bulk carries, multipurpose, reefer and High Speed vessels. At the positions he held within the above Companies and still holds, Mr. Makris is dealing in depth as OPERATIONS, DPA/CSO with vessel’s all day-to-day Operation (Mainly Supra Dry Bulk Grains, Ore – DRI A, B, C – Bauxite, Coal etc). He is also actively involved in CLAIMS – INSURANCE, MARINE SUPERINTENDENCY – in Chartering, Post Fixture, Freight/Hire Demurrage Calculations, Cargo claims, Insurance, P&I and FD+D matters and relevant Claims, including Salvage and General Average Claims, liaison with major London Solicitors Firms, P&I, FD+D, Arbitration Proceedings, Surveyors etc. He is also actively involved in negotiations and relevant procedures required for vessel’s acquisition – NEW Building Projects SUPRAMAXES – including all financial procedures (negotiations, specs, feasibility analysis, loan request proposals etc), as well as Marine Technical matters (Classification, DDs, Damage, SS), P and I, Hull and Machinery Condition Surveys, Safety Matters-SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW, ISM – ISPS, ILO, MLC etc.) and generally all other matters concerning the running of vessels. In parallel with his employment, Mr. Makris worked on an M. Phil project in Maritime Economics and Shipping Finance, which was submitted to be granted by the Council of National Academic Awards in the United Kingdom. Since 1995, in parallel with his main occupation, Captain Makris is a Senior Visiting Lecturer to the National Merchant Marine Educational Centre for Master Marines of the Greek Mercantile Marine Ministry. As a visiting lecturer, he is teaching the subjects of IMO International Conventions, Collision Avoidance at Sea, Maritime Law, Marine Insurance, Chartering Practice, Carriage of Goods by Sea, Port and Shipping Administration, Ship’s Stability, Classification Societies e.tc. Since 2020, Captain Makris is working as a part-time lecturer at Intercollege, teaching the module of COLREGS-Safety of Watch at the BSc in Nautical Science program.

Mr. Ioannis Hatzis
Mr. Ioannis Hatzis is a retired Captain of the Hellenic Navy. Over the course of his 26 years carrier in the Hellenic Navy, he was assigned to various posts of increasing responsibility such as, Staff Officer, Executive Officer and Commanding Officer of warships. He was also assigned in the Hellenic Navy General Staff as Head of the Security Department. During the last period of his carrier in the Hellenic Armed Forces, he was assigned at the Hellenic National Defense General Staff and in particular in the National Security Accreditation Authority as the Head of Information Security (INFOSEC) office. He has taken a variety of courses on National and NATO training centers regarding Staff Officer advanced education. He was the team leader in drafting the Hellenic Republic’s National Security Regulation establishing the Security Accreditation Procedure. During his military career, he taught both military and civil personnel mainly in Classified Information security subjects. Additionally he taught young Officers of the Hellenic Navy regarding the Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS). Mr. Hatzis holds a Master degree in Shipping Management and International Trade from Frederick University of Cyprus. Currently, Mr. Hatzis is working as a part-time lecturer at Intercollege, teaching field related modules in both, BSc in Nautical Science and Marine Engineering programs. Furthermore, Mr. Hatzis can speak English, Italian and German.

Mr. Dimitris Konstantinidis
Mr. Dimitris Konstantinidis is a professional coming from the Shipping Industry. Mr. Konstantinidis holds a Higher National Diploma (H.N.D.) in Marine Engineering from the Higher Technical Institute in Cyprus, a BEng in Marine Engineering from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, and a Master’s Degree MSc in Naval Architecture from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne. Furthermore, he holds a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from the Cyprus International Institute of Management (CIIM). Mr. Konstantinidis is a member of the Cyprus Scientific and Technical Chamber (ΕΤΕΚ) and the Cyprus Shipping Chamber’s Technical Sub-committee. Mr. Konstantinidis was employed by Lemissoler Shipmanagement Ltd in 2006 as a Purchasing Officer, in 2008 he was promoted to Technical Coordinator and in 2015 was promoted to Procurement Manager. In September 2020, Mr. Konstantinides was promoted to Chief Shipmanament Officer a position that he currently holds. Since 2017, Mr. Konstantinides is working as a part-time lecturer at Intercollege, teaching field related modules in both, BSc in Nautical Science and Marine Engineering programs.

Mr. Kyiakos Mavri
Mr. Kyriakos Mavri is an experienced Electrical and Electronics Engineer. He holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of South Alabama. After graduation, he worked with Philamon Inc. – a company specializing in commercial and military electromechanical devices and systems. After his time in the US, Mr. Mavri worked for 25 years with the Cyprus Port & Marine Police – the last 5 years as a Commander. During his service, he conducted numerous operations at sea, coordinated and supervised projects, led ship and equipment procurement, and taught electrical and electronics subjects. Since his early retirement as a Commander, Mr. Mavri has been involved in the technical aspects of the Cyprus Subsea Consulting and Services (C.S.C.S) while maintaining customer relationships and expanding the business. Since 2019, Mr. Mavri is working as a part-time lecturer at the BSc in Nautical Science program of Intercollege, teaching the module of Emergencies and SAR.

Ms. Chrysanthi Papaioannou
Ms. Chrysanthi Papaioannou holds a Bachelor degree of Arts in English Language and Literature from the American College of Greece and a Master’s degree in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) from the University of Exeter in England. She has 14 years of experience as an English teacher, 5 in private education and 9 years of experience in higher education. She has been working at Intercollege Nicosia since 2006 and is working as a part-time lecturer at the BSc in Marine Engineering program, teaching the module of Maritime English.

Ms. Fani Papamichael
Ms. Fani Papamichael holds a degree in “Sociology with a minor in Political Science” from the University of Cyprus and a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the Cyprus Institute of Management. She is a Certified Trainer from the Human Resource Development Authority of Cyprus and she has been working at Intercollege and in particular in the Training and Development department since 2011. Her main tasks are organizing, monitoring and evaluating training programs within the organization’s training and development. She deals with the identification of training needs and coordinates with external consultants, trainers and collaborators for the participation of Intercollege and University of Nicosia in European and local competitions and training programs. She collaborates with local authorities in order to make offers and training programs based on current market needs. Among other things, she is responsible for the subsidized programs and proposals of the Human Resource Development Authority. In addition, she is the Erasmus mobility coordinator of Nicosia’s campus for the placement of college students for their internship abroad as part of the European Erasmus program, as well as the staff training abroad via Erasmus funding. Additionally, she teaches subjects of Human Resources Management, Communication and Behavior at Culinary Arts and Aesthetics and Maritime departments of Intercollege Nicosia, and at the Hospitality, Tourism and Sports Management Department of the Business School at the University of Nicosia. She is a member of the council at the Cyprus Sociological Association and a member of the Film Classification Board of the Press and Information Office. Her research interests focus on Social Sciences, Communication and Branding.

Mr. Constantinos Adamides
Mr. Constantinos Adamides holds a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science. Over the last 3 years, Mr. Adamides concentrated his focus into his primary job field responsibilities including amongst others Admission’s, Erasmus Co-ordination (Inter-Institutional Agreements/Student Mobility/Staff Mobility), Computer Lecturing and I.T. Administration (back-ups/performance and maintenance of the network/computer laboratory/staff’s computers also performance/maintenance of peripherals and managing hardware/software problems that come along the way). Over the past 5 years, Mr. Adamides has been working as a part-time lecturer at Intercollege Nicosia and from October 2019, he started working as a part-time Lecturer at the BSc in Nautical Science program, teaching the module of Computers.

Ms. Maria Athanasiou
Ms. Maria Athanasiou is an attorney at law. She holds a bachelor of Laws and a Master of Laws Degree specialized in International Commercial law from Cardiff University. Ms. Athanasiou is currently pursuing her PhD Degree at the University of Nicosia focusing on the Law of the Sea. During 2015 to 2018, she was the secretary of Young European Movement UK in Wales. Since 2020, Ms. Athanasiou is working as a part-time lecturer at the BSc in Nautical Science program of Intercollege, teaching the modules of Maritime Law and Marine Legal Issues.

Ms. Panagiota Argyrou
Ms. Panagiota Argyrou is currently pursuing her PhD in Oil, Gas and Energy Engineering at the University of Nicosia. Her field of investigation deals with natural gas treatment including acid gases removal. Ms. Argyrou research will propose a more efficient process for eliminating acid gases, promises to lower the operating costs of natural gas treatment plants raising also the market share of more environmentally cleaner natural gas. Ms. Argyrou, in parallel with her postgraduate studies, she is assigned as a part-time lecturer in Intercollege with major subjects Physics and Mathematics. Ms. Argyrou holds an MSc by Research in Physics during which she worked as a member of the Superconductivity and Magnetism group of the Condensed Matter team at the Department of Physics of University of Warwick, UK. Her thesis dealt with the superconducting properties of non-centrosymmetric superconductors in Niobium-Rhenium series of compounds, with the aid of high definition experimental equipment. During her Master’s studies, Ms. Argyrou was employed from the Department of Engineering as a Laboratory Demonstrator/ Supervisor for undergraduate Physics students. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Kent, UK, receiving a Bachelor Degree with Honors in Physics, with a thesis project on Colour Perception and Virtual Reality with the aid of Oculus Rift equipment, in coordination with BAE Systems Company. In parallel with her undergraduate studies, Ms. Argyrou was an academic peer mentor for undergraduate Physics students. Since 2019, Ms. Argyrou is working as a part-time lecturer in both, BSc in Nautical Science and Marine Engineering programs of Intercollege, teaching the modules of Mathematics I & II as well as Physics I & II.
