Cyprus Maritime Academy, responding immediately and with a sense of responsibility, to the measures being taken to prevent and confront the new coronavirus (COVID-19) global epidemic, and in accordance with the relevant directives of the Ministry of Education as well as the set of measures adopted by the Republic of Cyprus, has decided, as of last Wednesday 11/03/2020, to postpone the delivery of its ground-based academic programs.
Given the current circumstances and according to the directives we have received, the earliest date possible to recommence the delivery of ground-based academic teaching cannot be before Wednesday 22nd April 2020. If the situation changes, this date may be amended according to prevailing conditions.
All events, seminars, training and development programs and any other activities scheduled to take place by 22/04/2020, are also postponed until further notice.
Aiming to provide the best possible service and support to the students, the students’ parents and to the associates of the Cyprus Maritime Academy under present conditions, the administrative and academic divisions of the academy are operating normally from home, executing their duties exclusively by telephone and electronically.
The health of the students of the Cyprus Maritime Academy as well as the health of our academic and administrative staff is our highest priority. All of us are staying at home and operate with flexibility to ensure the smoothest possible functioning of the Academy because the health of everyone is our primary concern. For this reason, from Monday 30/03/2020 onwards, the non-lab based courses of the academic programs of the Cyprus Maritime Academy will be offered via the Academy’s e-learning platform. Students will receive personal instructions from their faculty on how to make use of the platform and on how their academic program will continue.
According to the planning that has been made, our objective is for all Cyprus Maritime Academy students to be able to conclude their Spring 2020 semester and continue their academic studies in Fall 2020 or proceed with their graduation.
The moments we are now living are critical and unprecedented not only for Cyprus but for the whole of humanity. We stay at home and study from home for the sake of our own health, the health of the ones closest to us and for the health of all of our fellow human beings.
